What the programme covers
Most financial advice treats the year as flat — the same habits applied every month regardless of context. This programme starts from the opposite assumption: that January, April, July, and October each carry distinct financial pressures, and that good planning accounts for that rhythm rather than ignoring it.
Participants work through four seasonal modules, each anchored to real household and personal finance scenarios. The spring module, for instance, focuses on tax season reconciliation and forward-projecting summer costs before they arrive. The autumn module addresses the compression between school expenses, heating bills, and the run-up to December.
Each session combines a short conceptual framework with a hands-on assignment — usually a spreadsheet exercise, a planning template, or a peer-review task completed with another participant. The goal is to leave each session with something usable, not just something understood.
The programme was developed in 2024 specifically for city residents navigating local cost patterns in Ireland. It draws on realistic figures from Irish household data rather than generic examples that don't reflect what participants actually experience.
Programme Modules
Each module runs across three weeks: one live session, one independent assignment, and one group review call where participants compare approaches and discuss what worked.
Winter Reset
Reviewing the previous year's spending patterns, identifying where December created budget drift, and building a clean baseline for January. Participants map their fixed vs variable costs and set realistic targets for the first quarter.
Spring Reconciliation
Tax season arrives with its own demands. This module walks through organising receipts, understanding what expenses are claimable for self-employed participants, and projecting summer costs before they compress the budget.
Summer Cashflow
Childcare, travel, and irregular income patterns make summer genuinely different. Participants build a rolling cashflow tracker calibrated to their specific situation, and practise adjusting it as the season unfolds.
Autumn Compression
September through November stacks multiple large expenses in a short window. This module addresses how to sequence payments, when to draw on reserves, and how to avoid arriving at December already overstretched.
Reserve Building
A cross-seasonal thread woven through the programme: how to accumulate a financial buffer when income is tight. Covers realistic savings rates, where to hold reserves, and how to decide when to use them versus when to borrow.
Year-End Planning
The final session looks forward rather than back. Participants leave with a completed annual planning template, a written set of financial priorities for the coming year, and a peer accountability pairing from the group.
